status decay, formerly known as Spaceport Portside, is a Japanese-American born creative currently residing in Saint Louis, United States, who has carved out a personal unique niche in the electronic music landscape, specializing in the avant-garde realms of breakcore, noise, post-vaporwave and dark ambient. Born and raised in an environment with access to diverse musical influences, he has developed an early passion for experimenting with sonic boundaries and challenging conventional musical norms.

Before adopting the moniker of status decay, it was Spaceport Portside, the first side-project of his that envisaged the retro-futuristic realms within the genres of future funk and vaporwave, amalgamating the sounds of the past through a futuristic lens.

The music of Spaceport Portside, which encapsulated the essence of the '80s and '90s, blending elements of funk, smooth jazz, and vaporwave created a sonic panorama that felt simultaneously familiar and otherworldly. The aim of integrating samples from vintage sources, with modern production techniques resulted in a body of work that transported listeners to a neon-soaked, hyper-capitalist, retro-futuristic soundscape.
